			The Cambridge Evening News reported on the 21st March 1969 that two offices in Fulbourn were broken into during the night and £25 cash stolen. Two small safes in the offices of Ernest Doe Ltd, agricultural engineers, at Wilbraham road were smashed open, and £20 in cash stolen. And the second incident occurred at the nearby premises of Flaked Products Ltd., where a cash box in the grain silo department's offices were rifled and £5 taken.

			Frontage to Wilbraham Road approx 113 feet. Site area approx 2.121 acres/ Drying capacity 7,000 tons.
			Vacant possession on completion. Last date for receipt of tenders was 1st February, 1971.

			On the 22nd June 1956 a story was run saying that farmers could not use the Government Grain Silos at Fulbourn. The minister of agriculture said that there was no question of the stores being used by farmers as it contained stocks of Government imported wheat. Instead farmers should use a drying plant with bulk storage at Roydon, Essex.

The Fulbourn Grain Store is a large silo built in the 1940s during the Second World War to store grain, not to be confused with the grain mills which were on the other side of the road.

There were very similar grain stores built around the country to the same design. One was at Water Eaton, also known as Kidlington Silo. They seem to differ only in a few ways at ground level, for example Fulbourn silo appears to have a floor or cellar with windows under the west wing, possibly under the east wing as well, which was not the case for Water Eaton. Water Easton was demolished.

Today it is owned and run by S&B Herba ltd, who process rice and split peas.

Situated on the outskirts of rural Cambridge, Fulbourn Mill was built in the 1940’s as a grain store during the Second World War. After extensive modification and improvement to the building, it became a rice mill in 1988. The site has continued to undergo development and now has two processing lines and three packing lines, including a new, fully automated packing line. The site is equipped to clean and fully mill from suppliers all over the world.

Products can be packed in 5kg, 10kg, 20kg, 25kg, and 1 tonne bags and can be supplied in Bulk tankers. The mill is also capable of cleaning, splitting, polishing and packing peas.

We have a storage capacity of 6,200 tonnes of bulk product. State of the art equipment includes magnets, metal detectors, destoners and colour sorting machines. We have a comprehensive quality system with three fully trained QA personnel on site.
